Detailed Itinerary of Everest Base Camp Trek 8 Days

Day 01: Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding

An adventurous flight to Lukla from Kathmandu brings the tour to a start. The short runway of the Tenzing – Hillary airport welcomes us along the trail. We will start our short trek to Phakding as soon as we arrive at Phakding.

The trail moves along the banks of the pristine Dudh Kosi river passing through the settlement of Ghat. After a short ascent, we arrive at Phakding, where we stay overnight.

Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar

After breakfast, we start our trek to the famous tourist town of Namche Bazaar. We cross the suspension bridge after walking past a pristine waterfall. The view of the majestic Mt. Thamserku overwhelms us. After crossing another bridge, we arrive at the village of Monjo.

We can find the entry point of the UNESCO world heritage site of the Sagarmatha National Park. There is an entry checkpoint where you have to display your permits. After some formalities, we resume our trek in the Khumbu valley to arrive at Jorsale where we have our lunch.

There are several bridges to cross, and we continue our trek on the banks of the Dudh Koshi river. Then, we trek to the famous Namche Bazaar, which is the commercial hub of the entire region. We spend the night at a Lodge in Namche.

Day 03: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

Day 04: Trek to Tengboche

We pass through forested trails consisting of rhododendron and pine trees. The trail then descends for about 45 minutes toward the Phunki Tenga river. We arrive at Tengboche after some time.

Tengboche is a unique settlement in the Himalayas lying just below the beautiful Ama Dablam. The ancient Tengboche monastery is the spiritual hub of the region. We spend the night at a lodge in Tengboche.

Day 05: Trek to Dingboche

After breakfast, we start the trek through the alpine forests consisting of rhododendron and fir trees. There is a wooden bridge to cross along the trail, which then leads us to Pangboche after 30 minutes.

We stop to have lunch at Pangboche. The extensive trail opens up after passing through a narrow path. After 3 hours, we arrive at Dingboche, where we stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 06: Trek to Lobuche

After breakfast, we start our trek to Lobuche with a steep ascent. The snow-capped mountains, including Everest, Makalu, Amadablam, and others, will enthral you. After trekking for 2-2.5 hours, we arrive at Thukla.

A steep ridge leads us to the Memorial Chorten, established in memory of the mountaineers who perished their lives in the mountains. We ascend steeply up the Lobuche Pass and observe the serene Khumbu glacier. After trekking for around 2 hours, we arrive at Lobuche, where we stay overnight.

Day 07: Trek to Everest Base Camp and overnight to Gorak Shep

After breakfast, we start our trek to Everest Base Camp from Gorak shep. You can find an Italian research centre in Gorak Shep. Gorak Shep is a frozen lake bed and also the original Everest Base Camp.

We continue our trek through the new moraine route of the Everest Base Camp. The vibrant atmosphere of the Everest Base Camp and the up-and-close view of the mountains will enthral you. We descend back to Gorak Shep after enjoying some time at the Base Camp. We stay overnight at the Lodge in Gorak Shep.
